Access to education and healthcare in rural Uganda

Prospectus
Summary
65% of rural Ugandans, 24M people, still live in extreme multidimensional poverty, with little to no access to affordable and adequate schools and basic medical care. (MPI) Meanwhile, most community development interventions in Uganda today are not locally designed or sustainable, promoting the dependence of vital services and economic activity on western aid.
AsOne is a faith-driven organization that builds and operates locally sustained social enterprises in rural Uganda. Between 2025-2027, AsOne plans to spend $14,869,545 in rural Eastern Uganda to open five clinics to provide 75,000 patients annually with quality, affordable local education. AsOne will also open five nursery and primary schools and two high schools, providing affordable, quality education to 7,000 students annually. They will open five demonstration farms to train 50,000 farmers annually in improved farming materials and methods. These social enterprises will provide about 600 direct full-time jobs in rural Ugandan economies. Once operational, AsOne aims to achieve 100% local sustainability by year 5 of the program.

Story
Meet Salama
When her parents couldn’t afford tuition and uniforms, Salama had to drop out of school. But through AsOne, a 30 year-old mother of three finished her studies and gave her life to Christ. Today, she is a third grade teacher, inspiring children just like her younger self to dream bigger and persevere. “Every day I wake up so excited to teach. I want my students to be transformed and become better versions of themselves.”
