Access to nutrition and income in South Sudan
1 in 3 children in South Sudan is severely malnourished.
92% of people in South Sudan live in extreme multidimensional poverty. After vetting more than 372 organizations, we believe FARM STEW has one of the most efficient, effective and sustainable development models in South Sudan. “FARM STEW” is an acronym for 8 evidence-based practices that improve the holistic well-being of impoverished families: Farming, Attitude, Rest, Meals, Sanitation, Temperance, Enterprise, and Water. They train local leaders on these 8 practices, including sustainable agricultural and income generation methods.
Program Activities
All Access is partnering with FARM STEW to improve several multidimensional poverty indices in Magwi by training 250 households on sustainable agricultural, health and income generation methods. This program also helps improve the child mortality rate by holistically improving nutrition, sanitation and water access, as well as school attendance by supplying girls with hygiene pads.
Expected Outputs and Outcomes
We expect this program to directly decrease the percent of program beneficiaries in Magwi that live in extreme multidimensional poverty for nutrition, education, sanitation, clean drinking water and assets by 54%, on average, by October 2024.
